Quebec City, Quebec, [March 30, 2026] The Government of Canada has selected OVA, a Canadian software company advancing sovereign AI-enhanced immersive technology, to develop VR-based training for the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM) medical personnel that addresses operational training constraints and strengthens readiness for high-pressure missions.

OVA will deliver a series of VR modules designed to build procedural confidence and resiliency through practice and repetition in virtual environments that more closely reflect real-world operational conditions. The immersive training will incorporate elements like Digital Twins and pressure-based mechanisms like time-bound tasks and audio stressors, providing personnel the ability to rehearse, adapt, and stress test before deployment.

Modules may include lessons in hemorrhage control, airway management, triage under fire, casualty evacuation, and prolonged field care. Bringing this into VR allows personnel to rehearse these scenarios as often as needed, at any time, and without any reliance on live assets or instructor availability, overcoming the challenges posed by live-instruction alone. The experiences will support individualized learning, but will include an evaluation of performance.

Canadian Special Operations Forces Command (CANSOFCOM) is Canada’s immediate response force, responsible for conducting special operations in support of national defence objectives at home and abroad. They are supported through some of the most rigorous and demanding training within the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).

Medical personnel in the Special Operations Forces are an elite group of medical professionals who provide advanced clinical care like battlefield trauma care under austere, unpredictable, and often hostile conditions. These professionals must be prepared to be decisive, precise, and demonstrate psychological resilience for mission success and the preservation of life.

This initiative reinforces the Canadian Armed Force’s sovereign defence technology ecosystem and advances the adoption of modern capabilities developed domestically.
