Success at I/ITSEC—next stop, ITEC!

Having recently participated in the Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) in Florida, OVA partnered up with former Lockheed Martin USA CIO, David A. Smith, and now current CTO at Wearality. Being the world's largest modeling, simulation, and training conference for defense, I/ITSEC consisted of presentations and workshops promoting the international and interdisciplinary cooperation within the fields of modeling and simulation (M&S), training, education and analysis.

OVA presented its VR/AR platform StellarX, this time collaborating with another great product, Wearality—3D glasses for your smartphone! OVA was also invited to give a presentation on its virtual reality and augmented reality platform at the ITEC conference in London next spring!

Québec Mines Congress 2015

As the official partner for virtual and augmented reality simulation at the Institut des mines du Québec event Québec Mines 2015, OVA demonstrated some of the promising possibilities of mixed reality. The event included more than 100 conferences and workshops on topics touching on all aspects of mining development as well as 200 commercial, geoscientific and government exhibitors.

Combing both VR/AR into mixed reality, our current project involves a virtual walk-through inside a mine, both guided and unguided, including virtual Abitibi-based mine tours. Our presentation shows what is needed to make certain decisions apropos to behavioral conduct and correctly adapted safety and security procedures.

Rather than traveling great distances, OVA’s technology allows for familiarization with mines from a distance, almost as if you were there for real. Check out the mechanical excavator for an idea of mining simulation project possibilities !

Advanced Manufacturing Canada

At the Palais des congrès in Montréal, on November 18th and 19th, OVA partook in the Advanced Manufacturing Canada’s 2015 Discovery Den conference—an event offering the Canadian manufacturing community the opportunity to get the word out on forward-looking and unconventional manufacturing technologies, including robotics, 3D printing and virtual and augmented reality.

A great success for OVA, many came to see the potential that mixed reality (combined virtual and augmented reality) can bring to the manufacturing sector. Equipped with the prominent AlienWare Area 51 R2, plus Oculus Rift and Wearality glasses, proved to be a real people magnet in showcasing StellarX.

Retail, luxury items and virtual reality

Think French and luxury goods in New York! OVA wanted to know what virtual reality could bring to that table. How can the use of virtual and augmented reality fit into retail? Hosted by the French Founders group in Manhattan, this rendezvous brought even more great ideas to better fine tune the potential of VR/AR technology. Picture walking into a boutique and having for the picking this or that brand’s fall runway presentation—virtually. Even a look at what’s going on behind the scenes—you may see something you like and then, like magic, find it in the real world.

OVA awarded HEC-National Bank Accélérateur prize!

Not only being a bursary recipient, OVA has been awarded the HEC-National Bank Accélérateur prize. Coming from an initiative to promote the creation and long term livelihood of new and innovative businesses, the Institut d’entrepreneuriat helps them develop their products and services in areas such as training, pioneering research and narrowing the space between new technologies and enduring needs. We thank everyone involved for their support and confidence in our team and our platform, StellarX.
